Philosophy
The philosophy of The Dance Pointe is to present dance in a way that stimulates learning the art in a fun, exciting and nurturing environment. Whether a dance career is planned or not, students are presented with a curriculum that reflects the standards and traditions of today's dance world. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace with classes offered to accommodate different levels. The Dance Pointe's director is dedicated to developing the dancer's self-esteem along with the dancer's technical and artistic skills.
Owner/Director/Instructor/Choreographer
 Anya Andre has been studying dance for over 30 years and in her 16th year of owning The Dance Pointe.
She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate in Performing Arts and Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has studied dance all over the country including Natchitoches, Louisiana where she graduated with an honor in dance from the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, under Mr. Randy Allen. She has performed in many productions including UL’s State of LA Danse, UL’s Evening of Dance, Impulse Dance Theater’s Evening of Dance, where she also served as President of the company and in Baton Rouge Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker.
Anya has also danced in Paris, France and at the House of Blues in New Orleans, in an off-Broadway musical entitled Songs for a New World. Anya has received many prestigious choreography awards and earned several Top Studio awards in Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama. She has had several of her pieces nominated in the Dance Industry Awards and was nominated and chosen as a finalist for Dance Educator of the Year. The Dance Pointe has been ranked as one of the top fifty studios in the entire 10-state combined south central region. Anya is also a sought after judge for many dance competitions around the United States. She absolutely loves getting the opportunity to give feedback and compliments to many aspiring dancers around the United States while experiencing dance all over the country, through judging.
Many of Anya’s students have earned prestigious awards and titles, including National titles. Many of her students’ have also earned numerous scholarships allowing them to study dance in New York, Disney World, California, Las Vegas and with the Joffrey Academy in Texas. Some of her students are now pursuing their own career in dance at the university level. She is looking forward to another exciting year with her dancers! |
